An old ship rises from the sea, mast up, a blue pennant snapping in the wind. Its hull looks weathered and patched – rust, moss and salt layered over years at sea.
Acrylic in rust red and sage green is pressed onto deckle-edged cotton paper and structured with fine ink lines and hatching. Copper acrylic catches the light like corroded metal, oil pastel adds raw texture, and a loose watercolor wash in pale blue lets the hull sink into the water below. A small figure stands on deck, a porthole glows orange – details that turn the vessel into a story.
The third work in the “Ocean” series is about endurance: a ship that has seen many storms and is still afloat.
