A mast rises at the edge of the scene, a ragged red flag snapping at its top. Below it, hull, rope and rock tangle into one – a ship run aground, or a coast that has swallowed it.
Thick acrylic in sage green, rust and coral is built up on deckle-edged cotton paper, worked over with nervous ink lines that read as chains, rigging and cracks. Dark oil pastel smears drift through the scene like smoke or storm, copper acrylic glints on the weathered surfaces, and a pale watercolor blue opens the sea toward the horizon.
The seventh work in the “Ocean” series is its most dramatic: the moment after the storm, when the flag is still flying.
Original, signed with the artist’s blind-embossed seal. Cotton paper with natural deckled edges, unframed.
