A layered cliff of rust and green rises from the water, and it is inhabited. A figure with a fiery red crest peers out from the rock, a tiny creature sits at its foot, and a leafy plant reaches up from the top toward the light.
Acrylic in rust, coral and sage green is pressed onto deckle-edged cotton paper and structured with fine ink lines and hatching. Copper acrylic shimmers in the rock layers, oil pastel adds soft shadows, and a cool watercolor blue runs down the right side like water flowing past the cliff.
The tenth work in the “Ocean” series is about the coast as a living place, full of hidden inhabitants.
