A rock at the water’s edge turns out to be someone: a round creature with spectacles and a big rust-red nose, resting by the sea like an old harbor philosopher watching the tide come in.
Acrylic in sage green, rust and soft blue is layered on deckle-edged cotton paper and outlined with loose, playful ink lines. Copper acrylic warms the figure, oil pastel adds dark shadows along its back, and below the horizon the scene breaks into a rich reflection of blue, green and rust, where a small shape seems to swim by.
The thirteenth work in the “Ocean” series is its most humorous: a quiet character who has seen many tides and is in no hurry at all.
Original, signed with blind-embossed seal. Cotton paper, deckled edges, unframed.
