Three whimsical figures stand side by side on a thin horizon line, as if keeping watch over the water. One holds up a bouquet of blossoms, one grins, one gazes in quiet doubt. Below the line, their forms dissolve into vertical streaks of blue, sage and gold, a reflection that is more memory than mirror image.
The first work of the series “Shore Tales”, in which small characters, boats and houses appear at the edge between two worlds. Fine ink lines meet loose washes of watercolor and layered acrylic with gold accents. The handmade paper with its deckled edges is part of the composition and works beautifully in a floating frame.
